photographic exhibition \"RODE TO HEAVEN\" by Shamim Akhtar which started from August
11 till 17th, 2008 at the Convention Foyer, India Habitat Center.

have the opportunity to experience the mystique beauty of Ladakh, through a solo
photographic exhibition \"RODE TO HEAVEN\" by Shamim Akhtar which started from August
11 till 17th, 2008 at the Convention Foyer, India Habitat Center.
The exhibition started with the unveiling of one of the magnificent photograph of
Kiagar Tso Lake by Carlos Yrigoyen (Deputy High Commissioner of Peru) along with
Rahul Mittra, Ramesh Nambiar, Bhupendra Singh, Rekha Bhan. The photographs exhibited
show mesmerizing beauty of the journey of the photographer from Manali to Ladakh by
Shamim Akhtar on his two wheels during his 16 days ride.
Shamim Akhtar on being asked that why he chose Ladakh said ever since his first
trip, Ladakh beckoned him and he had decided to capture it in his camera and present
the complete journey through his photographs. This was his second solo exhibition
and there would be more in future. He is also about to write a book on his
experience through his journey to Ladakh.
Speaking about the exhibition Carlos Yrigoyen said the whole concept is really
beautiful, masterpiece work of photography. These type of photography allow to
discover your inner self.
Shamim Akhtar has also written a coffee table book \"Floating Pearls in the Arabian
Sea-Lakshadweep\" which he presented to Carlos Yrigoyen at the occasion.
